Wilson Family Farms, home of Le-Ara Holsteins, is located in the Worthington area of Armstrong county in rural western Pennsylvania.
On this true family owned and operated farm, we are devoted to our heritage of a traditional farming lifestyle.
Beginning in 1894
, this labor-intensive way of life has been passed down through five generations of Wilson descendents. Levi Wilson and his son, Charles
raised sheep on the original 134 rolling acres. Charles' son, Bruce, took over the farm in the 1930's, raising sheep, hogs, feeder cattle,
chickens and producing milk from Holstein cows.
Milk production ceased in 1966 but third generation farmer, Dick Wilson, his wife, Shirley, and three daughters continued to operate the
farm raising sheep and Holstein heifers while growing wheat, oats, corn and and hay. Daughters Lesa and Lara began purchasing quality
registered Holsteins to raise and show as 4-H projects in the 70's and 80's while daughter LuAnn enjoyed horses, a pony, and gardening
on the farm.
Today, a happy, healthy atmosphere is immediately apparent to visitors, as they are drawn into the wholesome family values required to run
this succesful farm operation. Le-Ara farms welcomes their customers as though they were life-long friends.
